On July 3, 2017, 45 young people from the Erasmus + program “Carry on Without plastics” celebrated with the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, leader of the Life LEMA project, Surfrider Spain and the commercial center of Garbera the International Day without Plastic Bags.
Young people from France, Spain and Germany, who spent several days in the Basque Country exchanging experiences on their countries about the problem of plastic, participated in the event coordinated by Surfrider Spain in Gipuzkoa within the framework of the Life LEMA project.
Throughout the “Free plastic bag day”, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Azti and Surfrider Spain present the Life LEMA project as well as the progress of the different actions carried out up to the moment.
The participants visited the facilities of Ekorec to learn first-hand the manufacture of materials from recycled fishing nets and were able to visit the project’s exhibition at the Garbera Shopping Center. In addition, it took the opportunity to hold a workshop with children of various ages to raise awareness of the problem of the single-use plastic bag.
